Oscar Watch: Black Swan

Black Swan
Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis

"Black Swan" is a psychological thriller that delves into the mind of obessesion and success. Potential spoilers ahead. Natalie Portman's acting is stellar; she plays Nina as a timid, nervous girl, but you can tell there's something dark about her. I'm not a fan of thrillers, but the acting, directing, lighting, and framing made this movie memorable. You can feel the repression Nina felt, as well as the anger and desperation. Not like I expected any less with Aronofsky. I need a second viewing, but this movie shows you the terror of psychiatric disease, living with constant fear, and coping with the stresses of a need to be at the top.
